I have been repairing a lot lately so I hope I don't bore you guys with all my questions haha.
Today I removed the old non original antenna from my 66 and it all went pretty well until I had the antenna loose and under the car, I then noticed that the antenna cable that was used doesn't have a screw on type connector but is literally attachted to the antenna and isn't detachable.
I was planning to reuse the antenna cable because the original one isn't there anymore. So if I can't reuse this cable that would be a huge pain in the a$$. So I decided to cut of the old antenna from the cable and install a connector on the existing cable. The problem now is that I don't know which connector to buy that will fit the repro screw on type.
Cable I have, just standard antenna cable but a pic couldn't hurt
(don't mind the old antenna attached to it)
Connector on repro antenna

Take your antennae with you to an electronic store over there where you live and find one that fits...or unscrew that part off and take it with you...
Yeah that's what I would do if I lived in the US but the stupid thing is that in the netherlands almost all the specialty stores for electronics and such have disappeared, online shopping took away their profit. I really don't know a store where to get connections like this or I would have to drive for an hour. I do know a store where I could try but also a 30 min drive. If someone knows the name of the connector I could just order it online, and contribute to the disappearing of stores
Yes it is haha, funny how connected this world is with the internet
I know the store very well it's 2 minute drive but too bad they only sell big products like tv's and bang & olufsen speakers. No small stuff for people like me who use their workbench
PS I do know the guy and I am sure he could tell me exactly what the best speakers and tv's are but he doesn't know connections like this haha.

Yeah well, we don't have junkyards in the netherlands anymore
In the netherlands we have one or two real big junkyards I think in Rotterdam, but since square meters are pricey here there aren't junkyards left were thousands of cars are parked and where you can just wander through looking for parts. Cars are systematically destroyed here.
Here a pic of a smaller dutch junkyard
And everything on those junkyards is from after 2000 everything before then is already destroyed. And as you can see pretty much every part has been removed

But I will try tomorrow at a city relatively near me "Zwolle" at a shop called "fakkert" they will at least be able to tell me what connector it is and maybe they will have it in stock. These details will probably never be of use to you across the pond but who cares

I would replace that cable with a correct repro unit. The price of the part is not too high, but the labor is pretty expensive considering all of the work involved. Unless ... you do it yourself, it's pretty simple, it just takes awhile and you know that it will be right when you're done.

But if I am right that cable comes in the interior on the left rear side and the runs under the carpeting all the way to the door sill. And I really do not want to remove the carpet it is in so tight now
Hi,
66 jack I went to 3 stores and they all told me it was a rare connection here and they had no idea what type it was or where I could get it. They said I needed to look in the US.
So I am back to you guys since you happen to live there

I thought i saved my old antenna...I went a looked in my electrical stuff...
I was hoping it was there so i could take it to one of our older repair shops here and see if they had one...I Didn't save it...
Someone else will chime in with some ideas on where to look/get one...good luck...
Well, I looked at the pictures one of the other members posted and that was what I needed to move ahead. Once I knew how to assemble it I moved on to getting the cable in. I noticed the cable was longer than the fully extended mast, and I noted there is a spring loaded friction wheel that bites into the cable. That explained the teeth marks on the old cable. So I cut off the "J" end piece.. I simply raised that roller up to make room and shoved the new cable in, until I could get the mast bolted on again. I reassembled the gearing and switches, and sealed up the wires. . Finger crossed it'll work and I got this right. I'll function check it tomorrow night after work one thing was odd.. The new cable came with a felt washer and a rubber washer looking thing that goes between the drive unit and the bottom of the mast. I tried as many ways as possible to install it but there was no way it was going to go in. So I figured, the "J" hook was not correct so maybe that rubber part should not be on the cable either. I removed it and the mast was still pretty tight but I managed to get it bolted onto the drive unit.. If nothing else, Learning is occurring.. By the time I am finished I'll be Qualified. LOL I also bought a three wire plug so make installation easier. if anyone has any hints on how to re install those upper two top bolts on the mast, I am all ears. Been thinking of maybe taping the bolts into the socket to prevent it falling out long enough to get the bolt started. I took it our via the tail light hole and a very long extension.
