Should the date code on a 65 tinted windshield (AS1) be readable left to right from outside the car , or from inside the car. I received a new tinted windshield from Paragon and the logo reads from outside left to right. The windshield which I "believe was original" reads from inside (by inside I mean in the car looking out) left to right.
( looks something like the following except the vertical line has an arrow head pointing down)
__
A | S1
well I'm getting a little bit smarter as I go - The AS1 is actually a quality label about the glass and I don't know how important it is to have it readable from the correct side, being that it more likely pertains to Quality/safety.
The date code I have on the new windshield is for April 65 - GJ, the car has a serial number that indicates May 65 production, so I assume that is correct - I could see windshields made in April going on May cars especially since the glass that was originally in it was February 65 date code XJ.
If my thinking is incorrect, or someone thinks this is all wrong, please let me know.
The quality label on R66, built 12/65 reads from the inside of the car, as also does the LOF stamp and the date code. The glass has the correct date code for the car, and I believe it to be correct, but I am not well versed on the particulars.
