Default Radiator?

Is there a company making a regular bolt in top fill radiator for a 62? Thanks.

There is nothing 'irregular' about the original expansion tank radiator BTW.

DeWitt's or Ron Davis are your best bets, perhaps Be Cool or Griffin....I'm betting the cost will cause a grown man to cry...

Be careful as many going this route wind up adding an aftermarket puke tank anyway (that looks like crap) so I'm not sure what you're gaining going non-original..

I don't know of anyone making a top fill radiator for use in a 62. There are copper, no tank replacements, for the original aluminum radiator.

You could use a 56-60 radiator, but you'd either need to modify the core support, or use a 58-60 support. The problem is that the $400 copper reproduction 56-60 radiator, is known to have fit issues. The only repro 56-60 radiator to buy is the $690 DeWitts, and a core support is another $300+. At that point, you might as well buy the $900 correct DeWitts 62 radiator.

Why do you want a top fill?

You really only have one choice here. Dewitts.

I've used others and I have now become a DeWitt fan boy

I'm going to call Dewitts tomorrow for advice, I'm trying to find a radiator to cool 500hp and figured the top fill would be the best if I could find one that bolts in without too many modifications. I'm hoping the Dewitts bolt in aluminum will do the job. Thanks.

If your goal is to eliminate the surge tank we build the one below with a filler neck all the time. There is no official part number because it is custom but you could just put a note in with the order, modify with filler neck. Since you have such a powerful engine, I'd consider stepping to the fatter 1 1/4" tubes. Order 4149061M and not the 4139061M in the photo. Or 4249061M if you want it in Black Ice coat.

Will the 1 1/4 tubes fit in the stock core support? This is what I have been looking for! Thanks.

You are welcome! You went without the electric fan? Since you are not going the concourse correct route you might want to re-think that. The electric fans work so much better than the engine drive design. You could still use the shroud to hide it if you like or leave it off for extra room. .02

Pushers do not work as good as pullers. They obstruct the free flow of air getting to the radiator and the actual cfm through the core will be higher with a puller. You will not be able to attached the fans to the radiator with the X braces in front unless you cut them off and you cannot slide the unit down into the support with the horizontal brace. You would have to cut the X braces out and add the fans to the radiator AFTER installing it and that would mean "pinning" it to the core, which will void the warranty. So, I'd change the order and go with what works.

Place a new order for the 4149061M and I'll get the other one deleted.

Hey Glenn, glad to see your making progress. One of these days I'll come back from the beach and stop at Rob's shop, then check out your ride. Dennis
