Hi Just traded my 2007 corvette for a restored 65. I am retired and thought it would be a nice change. I had a 64 when I was 22 years old. Just noticed that the parking brake warning light is not working and have cheated the switch and it is OK. If the bulb is bad I am not sure if my body will let me try to fix it. (recent back surgery) Can you pull the instrument cluster without disconnecting the tach and oil pressure tube?

Welcome! I'm afraid you cannot pull it far enough to get that high with the tach connected. You can replace the bulbs with small hands and a good back without totally removing the cluster but it's a lot of contorting.

That said- I'm super excited for you! Enjoy the experience!

If you do decide to try to reach the bulb, do yourself a favor and spend ten minutes removing the two bolts that hold the driver's seat tracks to the floor. They at the front of the seat. One for each track. Pull the seat forward out of the rear brackets and you should have a more comfortable time getting under there without major pain and contortions. I think it will improve your chances of having success.

However, I suggest that you at least "loosen" up the 4 rear seat track bolts as well. You MAY be able to pull the seat by only removing the fronts but, you'll be hard pressed trying to "shove" it back in.

Welcome to the forum...If that's the only problem with the dash, I'd wait till you have something else behind there and make it worth while. Have fun with your 64.

Hi Mgr, congratulations on your conversion. I too sold my 2007 Z06 and bought a restored 1965 vert. Had a '65 when I was 20 years old. Have fun and drive it like you stole it !!! I'll miss the reliability and speed, but this is much cooler !!!

I agree with Gary and Dave. My 71 year old bones appreciate it when I spend that 10 minutes removing the seat and another 3 minutes removing the steering wheel whenever I'm doing any work with the dash.

Good advice from all the above posts.
Once you have the seat out you canextend the gauge cluster outward by replacing the screws that hold it in place with 5 or 6 inch long 1/4 X20 bolts. This keeps the cluster out enough to get you hands into the work area. You will have to d/c the tach, speedo cables and the oil pressure tube but it is easy. Lay some blankets or moving pads on the floor and it actually becomes fairly comfortable.
One thing I would suggest while working back there is to replace the old bulbs with led bulbs. They make the gauges much easier to read at night and they last a zillion hours.
Forgot to add if you need led bulbs superbrightleds.com has them all.

If it's just your emergency brake light, I'd leave it alone until there was a better reason to pull the dash.
