Default Chrome Bumper Replating

I'm in the Chicago area and had the rear bumpers on my driver '65 redone about 25 years ago, who no longer are in business. The bumpers are both pitting and beginning to rust.

I've had the Vette for 35 years, the fronts were never redone, but still look like new. The car is only driven in the summer and otherwise stored in my garage.

Can anyone recommend a quality, but reasonably priced place I can take these rear bumpers to in the Chicago area for replating the chrome or know someone selling very good condition replacements?

Be prepared to pay $250-$300 per bumper for correct three stage plating. Prices of chemicals and environmental requirements have played a part in the increased prices. Yours may have been done with a two stage process resulting the the rust and bubbling you show. My bumpers were plated 35-37 years ago and are still in show quality despite more than 100K miles. Really good guy and does chrome for most of the top restorers in the southeast.
Just got all chrome re-plated for my '62. Beautiful. Get ready to write a pretty good sized check wherever you get it done... If it's a high quality job.

Another Tennessee plating company to consider is Tri-City Plating. They have plated all of the bumpers I've done in the past dozen years. Absolutely no complaints with them. Fair prices for very nice work.

How long ago? I had mine done by them about a year and half ago and wasn't happy at all. Had them redone locally. Yes, the cost was a bit more but, the difference was night and day!

I use Advanced Plating and Pauls Plating in PA for my show chrome
Both are EXPENSIVE but best in the business

I have a test bumper at a shop in Sterling IL
http://www.qualitychromeplating.com/
So far they shop is VERY knowledgeable and triple plated.

I second the above, they did a great job on my 65 chrome.

Reasonable and Chrome Plating should never be used in the same sentence.

It's a drive down I-55 for you, but I have had all my chrome plating done at St Louis Plating for years and years now. The work is excellent, the prices are appropriate and on time. I had my '69 front and rears done a few years ago and as usual, excellent and ready on the day they said.

It's not a great neighborhood, note to self.
