I've owned SUV's as daily drivers for a long time. Great for long trips and around town errands. And easy to get in and out of for an old guy. I'd own one of these, too, but it would have to be in addition to a real Corvette, not instead of a real Corvette.
It would probably look a lot like a Cadillac XT5...
...perhaps with an LS or LT engine. It would probably be seen by corporate as competition with the Cadillac and last about as long as the XLR did. Not because it wasn't a good car, but because the market couldn't sustain it.
The closest thing Chevrolet / GM Performance division has done in the past is the Trailblazer SS. The 6.0L LS2 was pulled from the Corvette parts bin as well as Z51Corvette front brake calipers. The suspension was tuned by GM Performance on race tracks including the Nurburgring by Performance guru John Heinricy and platform maven Tom Wallace.
Car companies like Porsche, Lamborghini, etc have also produced SUVs in addition to sports/performance cars. "Corvette" is a car made by Chevrolet.
Making a "Corvette SUV" is like making a "911 SUV" or a "Murcialago SUV." Sounds more like a goofy custom stretch limo with a random car grafted on the front or a custom 4x4 with an oddball body on it.

I'm to the point where I can't warm up to the C7 as it is, a Corvette SUV?
I get a copy of the Detroit News daily being from se lower Michigan and read it while I'm eating breakfast but today it was tough to swallow!

Seems kind of silly.
With both above.
Also, the market demographic is different. Those who buy the foreign hipo SUVs would look askance at a "Corvette" product.
Lastly, the pricing stated in the article is fantasy land. At 50/75 k, they would be cheaper than the comparable performance model Corvette - and that with the cost of a new limited production platform?
Agree with all the above. Wouldn't be a bit interested in one. I'll stick with a Jeep Grand Cherokee for my SUV (have owned 3; 2000, 2004, 2017). Just bought the 2017, which is the Trailhawk version.
