Default C2 convertible

Hoping to obtain a 1965 convertible that has been sitting for 24 years.
Tires are flat, battery is shot, the frame and birdcage appears to look great.
What are some issues that could bite me?
Thanks

A lot of potential problems. I would take dozens of pictures and post them here in the C2 section of the forum:

Pictures tell a lot, good luck.

I'm going to move this over to the C1/C2 General section. You should get the answers you are looking for there.

Beside the frame and birdcage. Look at the body for either past wreck repair or any other type of repair and paint. Check to see how well the front bumpers line up. Also the condition on the interior. You can tie up a bunch of money in the interior. Is it advertised as a original engine?

Welcome to the CF! Consider the electrical system as a potential work area and redoing the entire brake system, and don't forget the fuel line and tank. Dennis

Where?? In a field?? Dry storage?? This alone is going to be a huge factor.

Hello WM, Welcome to the Forum,

Consider the following:

1. Engine. If you don't know how the engine was put away, I would consider it needing a complete rebuild. Gaskets, Seals, Rings, etc.

2. Electrical. I would expect the instrument cluster gages will work but a bonus if the clock, headlight bucket motors and radio function.

3. Body. Is the paint Original (and Original Correct Color). A paint job is 10K +.

4. Suspension. Expect to replace all rubber parts, shocks and all fluids

5. Drive Train. Transmission gaskets/Seals and Differential fluids

6. Interior. As stated

7. Fuel. Gas Tank and Sender and all rubber lines (as stated)

8. Brakes. Rebuild all calipers and master cylinder, Replace all steel lines and rubber lines.

9. Cooling. Replace radiator, fluids, thermostat and hoses/flush

10 Weather Strips. Replace them

11. Soft Top. Replace Top skin and inspect the liner and all folding frame joints and front bow for rust.

Regards,

Phil

The secret account you have been hiding cash in may have turned into a furniture and kitchen remodel.
Hope its in the 15-20 range. Soon to be thirty in the blink of an eye. Its called a money pit by some, divorce by others. If its everything you expected, .... fantastic !
