Default Reverse lock out-M20

Finally took my 65 in to inspect my trans linkage/reverse lock out. The linkage and lock out have been need of repair for some time. The prognosis was the linkage was worn, sloppy; so I got new linkage kit from Full Throttle Corvette. The new kit definitely improved the action, but the lock out is still inoperative. Question; is there a lock out kit available or is a new shifter necessary? Or would this be a good excuse for a 5spd from Siver Sport?

the lock out rod is a very simple design. when you pull up on the "T" handle it pulls up a rod that has a pin that pulls out of the shiffter allowing it to go into reverse. either something inside your shiffter is broken or your out of adjustment on the linkage rod

This thread shows how the lockout works. You can spend maybe a few bucks to fix it or you can spend hundreds and hundreds on your new transmission.

Send me your old transmission and linkage. I'll pay postage.

Sounds like we need a cost/benefit ratio analysis on this problem.

Thanks, MikeM; from your link we found the rod about 1/16" short. So we adjusted and now it works great! THANKS
