I probably would have done some modifications to the new 64 but I was too poor. Couldn't afford anything with $108.22 Corvette payments every month. I removed the hub caps though. Does that count?
Silver Spring which state? I lived in Silver Spring MD for several years as a kid when my Dad worked for the Naval Ordinance Labs (NOL) in DC.
Yes went to Einstein High school in Kensington Md. Went to Silver Spring hot shops where this rich kid his dad got him a big block corvette we were all looking at this car dreaming with our redone 57 Chevys and hot rods.
This one guy Richard Shapiro he was in a band his dad got him a 63 split window 3 speed corvette.
I was doing good if my Grandfather took me to Sears for tires .
That area was all cars during that period 1965 thru 1973 .
It was all cars before 1965; we lived in Wheaton, MD and I saw my first split window there (two actually -- racing in downtown area) and saw John F. Kennedy twice...

The whole D.C. Metro area was “all cars” in that era. I grew up in Falls Church Va., had a SUNDAY JOB at Aquasco Dragway, we lived and breathed cars. Those of us that have survived, still do.
My dad(now deceased) told me a story once about a 63. I was riding with him going someplace around 1980. I was 14 or 15 at the time and already in love with the C2. I don't recall how we got on the topic but he told me that his nephew had a nice 63 with the "split window". He said that his nephew hated the car. It drove rough, was very uncomfortable, noisy, no AC, the split window was a pain, and so on. So he put the car up for sale sometime in the middle 70's. No one wanted it. It took him forever to sell the thing. He finally sold it for $700 and was happy to get that.
My how times have changed.
Can you imagine the legal implications of a split window design today?
I guess I got taken - overpaid for my '63 when I drove it home in 1972 - $1100.

You are correct, Sir.
I graduated from Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria in 1964. Cars were a lifestyle back then. And Hot Shoppes was the place to be with your car on Saturday night.
Hot Shoppes were the bomb - a family destination if us kids got good grades...
I was in this crowd outside Montgomery Blair High School and remember it distinctly nearly 60 years ago now:

Funny what things can trigger forgotten escapades of one's youth … cars were "cheap", the chicks were "fast" …. or was that the other way around - life was less complex
