Default Another tire/rim question

I hate to ask another tire question, I have poured over many post but haven't found what I am looking for.

What is the biggest tire I can run on a stock 5 inch rim for a 1961?
I know there are specs for each brand, but how is does it look and is the handling ok? And how tall are you running?

I'll let others answer but you better be darn sure that you're OK with the added steering effort required by fatter tires. The center link, king pin C1 steering is designed for narrow tires of ancient design.

My bad, let me add... 205-75-15 in the front. I was asking for the rear tires. I was thinking 225-75-15

table shows acceptable tire sizes by rim width; you don't want to use a tire that is too wide or too narrow for the rim you're going to use.

as to what will fit in the rear, that is going to depend on rim width and backspacing dimension. I have 215x70x15 on 7in rims with 4.5in backspacing on my 62, with no problem.

my guess is 225x75x15 will not be a problem as long as your rim isn't too narrow or too wide.

I have 225/60rX15s on 6" wide rims on the back of my 57 wit no clearance problems and 205/75rx15s on " rims on the front. Steers the same as the 6.70 bias tires I had on it but handles and rides better.
