A friend of mine has a 63" split window. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if the car has the original engine.

Any photos of the engine stamp pad, engine casting numbers and engine casting date along with the VIN tag?
In addition, the VIN numbers you posted don't seem to be correct.

I think you have your numbers reversed.
The 3959512 sounds like an engine block casting number that was used in about 1969 or 70 for service so that means the block is not the original.
Thanks for the quick response- I could not find any VIN tag. I will look for more numbers on the engine - Maybe next weekend before I can get to it. It appears to have the 340 valve covers and the correct air cleaner and distributor cover.
Crazy, but the owner of the car knows less than I do !

The numbers that you have as the vin (VIN 3959512) appear to be the block casting number. Which as Critter posted is not original to a '63
The numbers that you have as the engine (308375105543) appear as they maybe an original Vin if it was 30837S105543

You can find the VIN tag attached to a horizontal bar just below the glove compartment.
THANKS TO ALL! I will look for the VIN tag where you suggested and confirm the 5 is really an "S". I am sure what I do NOT know about these early cars would fill many volumes.
