adding headrests
Put them in my 67 about six years ago .. Long Island Corvette Supply
has the whole set up.. Not cheap but look good .. Need some welding
done and your good to go ..
cheaper and owing a 50+ year old collector car does not go together. Al Knock are the ones making them
Thanks , I know who makes and sells them what im lookin for is a less expensive way to get it done it doesnt make sense to spend 6 0r 7 hundred bucks for headrests . Id like to keep the car as original as possible even though the headrests werent around in 65. And believe me after spending the money i have on my car i know full well that cheap (or inexpensive) on a 50 + year car dont go together.

Id love to be able to find some in a junk yard somewhere or in somebodys attic stash, theres a 67 ( i think)that is near me ,totally wasted and i mean tied up in a knot , but he wont seperate or part out he wants to sell the whole car for $5k and to be truthful it just a pile of broken and twisted fiberglass and metal.
My seats need recovering anyway so id like to add them at the same time , i can probably get a couple more seasons out of them so im lookin for options. It probably makes better sense and would be cheaper to get aftermarket seats .

Headrested seats sell for about 1500-2k bucks depending on condition. You won't find any in a junk yard. GM cas with head rest before 68 were rare has hens teeth. 69 they became federal mandated and intergraded into the seats.

I was more or less talkin about the frames not the entire seat primarily the seat backs that have the headrest reciever in them
I decided to redo my vinyl seats to leather. Al Knoch was having a 20% off sale back in February so I placed my order. However, they're having a problem getting hold of teal leather that's the correct color so I'm still waiting.
In the meantime I've decided to add the headrest conversion to my order. Probably won't get the 20% off on them since the sale is over but I think they're worth it anyway for the safety factor. Of course if they don't find a source for teal leather, I'll save a whole lot of money.
You might contact Al and ask if they're going to be having another sale anytime soon. 20% off should save you around $120.
anybody have any experience with these procar seats ?
They didn't work out for me, had to return them.. Nice seats, I was disappointed that they didn't work out. I couldn't get under the steering wheel too easy. I'm 5' 10" 160 lbs. I do have a C-3 steering wheel, having a tilt column would help out a lot, but that another expense.
There are guys on the forum here that are running these pro car seats, maybe they will tune in and help you out. Norm

what style did you order? I was lookin at the classic i think it was . Seem to resemble the 66 style seat . i saw that one guy had put a set in his 64 and loves them but who knows , it all depends on how big you are i guess.

I had the Pro Car Rally 1000 with headrests. They make several other models. They have a Pro 90 series that look like stock but have a headrest. I got mine from Speedway Motors here in Lincoln Ne. Check there web site and take a look. Norm

the ones i see on their website are these Classic
80-1500-51L they look almost stock to a 66 or 67 . What exactly diddnt you like about yours were they to high or to close to the steering wheel or both , they sure look comfortable , my only issue with those would be the bolster on the seat.

I think my problem were the bottom bolsters. Sliding into the seat was an effort. Steering wheel was too close. They were comfortable, my wife really liked them. There are pictures on the forum on these seats, so they must work for some guys.....since your thread, I've been looking again at that Procar 90 series. they don't have the side bolsters but do have the adjustable head rest. You'll need frame #81172 for these seats..there about $80. ea from Summit. One good thing about this set up is you can get seats with headrest for same amount than the head rests assy. for a stock C-2 seat. Do a search on the forum for other members threads. Norm

Thanks Norm , I think thats probably the direction im gonna take . The crazy money it would take to get mine recovered and add the headrests just doesnt make sense. I'd love to keep mine as original as possible , but the seats i mentioned above dont look all that out of place. So if i go this route i'll just take out the originals and put them with the rest of the parts i took off for upgrades. At least then if I ever do put it up for sale all the original parts will go with it . Mike
