Time for some tires... What do you run?
What a PITA....
I am looking for a performance tire for a 15x6 wheel. Seems that's a tough order to fill. I have 215/70R15 and if you punch that size in and ask for a "performance tire" (on the local discount tire website), There is nothing listed. Looks like that is a mini van tire
I found some Yokohama YK580's that they can order in, but haven't found anyone saying really anything great about that tire, other than it's great for a Prius...... That only thing they have close is a 205/65R15 but that's narrower than the tire I now have....
What would y'all suggest for a good handling tire?

For a great performance tire check out Avon tyres. The CR6ZZ tires look great and are much better than stuff made for Prius'.

I ran Falken tires on my C5 as well as my Infiniti daily driver for several years. I was always impressed with the performance as well as wear.

I bought some 225/50ZR-15 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R N4(Porsche) and put them on some 7" Rally's on my car. I was planning to use them for the TX Mile...but ended up changing to 18's/17's when I couldn't find a tall enough speed rated tire for the rear.
They are "Y" rated (186 MPH). Drove them around the block and that's it. Can make you a deal on 2 of them if it helps.

I like Continental tires, and this includes General. Last year I went with a set of General Altimax and have been very happy with them through a lot of driving.
They turn in nice and sharp, track very straight, don't follow ruts or tramline, brake and grip well wet or dry. This may sound silly for an old Corvette but they are a really quiet tire too. With the top down, the noise difference is actually striking. I can hear tunes and conversation much more clearly and longer drives are less fatigueing.
I did prefer the appearance of the Indy 500 tires I replaced but those 15 inch Indy's didn't wear well and sadly are no longer in production.
Check 'em out. Got my Altimax set at Tire Rack and the price was right, too!

There are absolutely ZERO, performance/grand touring 15" tires produced anymore that are speed rated above "S" rating.
If you don't mind waiting a couple months, it's definitely worth the wait. They are AWESOME tires! Sticky as hell, quiet , comfortable and great treadwear rating!

I think the problem is more likely DAD'S right foot.

I don't think you'd like how the 205/65R15 would fill out the wheel well. They are a bit less than 25" tall. Your 215/70R15s that you have now are 27.3" tall. I have 215/65R15s on my '67 now, which are 26" tall, I'm of the opinion that my car would look better with the taller 215/70R15s and will go with that size when I buy a new set of tires.
