Can you comment on why the 1964 RH fender flag is so much further forward than the '63 models?

Also noted on a poll we conducted, there was a lot of fore/aft emblem variation between cars of the same model years with the OEM glass still intact. Seems I recall the variations were around 1/2".

Thanks Mike. I agree, I think that's exactly what happened.

I started to record the emblem location back in the mid 70's and I have quite a few early cars with the higher FI emblem location.
I don't remember the exact dimension change but it was at least 1/8" or 3/16", or more. Enough to be able to easily see from ten feet away. It's the distance between the V flag emblem to the FI emblem that changed.

I think this issue ran at least through the first thousand cars, or more, but I don't remember the numbers now. I'm old now.

Sorry Mike, I don't have any direct knowledge of the 63-4 Vette fixtures, I didn't do my first tool design until I was a junior in high school in 1965.

If I had to venture a guess, about the variation, I'd say it was a result of the adjustment, abuse and repair of the fixtures in production.

Wow, thanks for all the feedback guys. From my reading I was 99% sure the 63 emblems were the thicker ones. As for the original holes for mounting, I think I'm OK. I believe these were patched back in the 70s. My assumption is bondo was used and it has strunk up some or the fill really wasn't very good. See pics.

2nd emblem question. The gas cap has been replaced. Any idea from the picture where it might have come from?

You need to open up the cap, the rivets, certain markings and the method of closing it are all important.. The entire cap can be bought in repro form, or, just the crossed flags insert.

Do you still happen to have this early 63 fuel door available? I am looking for one.

Hi, any chance you still have a template for the side and nose badges for a 63 coupe? Adding them back to my car which blocked them out by the previous owner. Any help would be appreciated.
