Looks like an early '67, later ones had a lever. '67 was the first year of a day/night mirror for Corvettes, IIRC, '64 did not have it.

'66 option V74 (Hazard Flasher) included as part of that Convenience Package the non-glare (day/night) mirror

My '65 (built Nov. '64) has what I thought to be the Convenience Package. Back up lights, glare proof day/night mirror. What else came in this package? Was the Convenience Package not available in '63 '64 & '65? This is the mirror in my car. What year mirror is it?

Default Mirror

1965 was the first year for the day/nite mirror along with the backup light option. 1964 received a standard mirror the backup lights were a stand alone option.

I've heard this several times over the years but never seen it published anywhere to verify.

In 66 (according to Nolan Adams Vol 2, pg 319) they were all supposed to get day/night mirrors as standard equipment but I don't think any of them did ... unless you ordered V74. Even the picture he put in the book showing several 66's at the end of the assy line show none with these mirrors. The 66 brochure pics show no cars with day/night mirrors, however on pg 14 it does indicate it is available as an extra-cost option.

Yes, 65 had a Convenience Package option which included reverse lights and this day/night mirror you show here. In 66, the day/night mirror was still and option which I believe was ordered under V74 which also included the 4-way flasher on the parking brake bracket. The 66 day/night mirror is the same as your 65 with the black ****.

Forgot to add the 4-way flasher pic.

I have to wonder if the factory installed day/night mirror in a 66 is a fable invented by someone that had a car with one. Especially coupled with the V74 4 way flasher.

I know of two all original 66's that have the V74 option and neither one has the day/night mirror. One car is still in the hands of the original owner. The other has history back to day one.

A day/night mirror coupled with the V74 flasher is a vary unlikely package.

Several years ago, this issue came up at the NCRS board and it was pretty much concluded that no such day/night mirror part number was ever shipped to the St Louis assembly plant for the 66 model year.

Thanks Velox for pointing us to that. I just checked my book and low and behold ... I had that very sentence highlighted in yellow. In my advancing age I think I'm becoming a marshmellow cause I clearly couldn't recall reading that, or highlighting it!

Default 1966 Rear View Mirror Revision

This NCRS update was published a few years ago:
Rear View Mirror Revision 1966

There has been on-going research on the “origin” of Day/Night Non-Glare mirror installation on 1966 Corvettes. The objective data/research compiled by the membership has determined that the Day/Night mirror was NOT a factory RPO installed option. It was a Dealer offered/installed item. The only mirrors that will be considered typical and appropriate for 1966 Production cars for Flight Judging etc. are the 2 Standard Mirrors, which were supplied by Donnelly Mirror Inc. AND Guide.
Only Donnelly Mirrors are dated.

Bill Calorico

My '66 with hazard flasher and back-up lights has a standard mirror I believe to be original, correctly dated.

A close friend of mine has a Mar 66 L72 coupe which has the hazard flasher but a standard mirror as well.
