Default Another distributor question...

On some distributors I've picked up, there's a little sleeve on the pin that drives the cam assembly. (That's the pin that sticks down from the plate at the top of the shaft assembly and goes into a hole in the plate with the centrifugal advance.) Anyway, I've seen it on one but not on another. It appears to limit the amount of centrifugal advance. How do I know if it belongs or not?
Thanks for any help here and for all the help I've gotten recently!

If it is the pin I think you are talking about it is to limit the mechanical advance. Some from the factory had rubber or plastic sleeves which eventually fall off. Aftermarket sleeves are usually brass and press on to stay. Without the sleeve on the pin you may get too much mechanical advance at high RPM.
Cheers,
Mike

That's the pin. I had picked up one of the advance spring kits and it came with a brass bushing. (I had never seen one in brass.) Now, I'll see if I can buy a couple more bushings.
