I just completed this car for a gentlemen I met at the BJ Palm Beach
'16 auction. We located the car through the forum and had it shipped from Oregon to NJ last July when the work began. Initially, we were building a clone of the car I had just sold, only changing the interior color and using an LS3. Well, the owner wanted a few upgrades so project creep reared its head. All the mods were well thought out and worth it in the end. Here's a few details followed by the stuff you guys like, PICS!!!! Enjoy.

Back from media blasting
I'm missing some pics from when I removed the nose and just had a cowl back body with no quarter panels. This was about Sept. '16.
Started building it up from its lowest level.
Mockup using C7 seats, the headrest was too high, so we had to cut it down.
I built a wooden role cage and rolled to car over to smooth the underside.
Custom door panels using foam insulation board, fiberglass and resin, body filler.
Chassis and exhaust
Fortunately it was a rather mild winter here in the Northeast.
Everything painted, cut and buffed the beginning of March, now final assembly.
Fantastic work. One question though. Why the 2 different exhausts configuration? Is that something like the offshore boats with an ability to run in 2 different "sound modes", quiet running exhaust out the rear or "Thunder" when routed out the side pipes?
Outstanding craftsmanship! I can't imagine getting all of the parts sent out and gathered up in 10 months let alone doing all of the labor to that level in that amount of time. Your customer surely is more than pleased. If I can ask is the actuator the only thing closing the hood, no latch or anything else. Thanks for posting.
The time frame and work involved is truly amazing. I love the interior color contrasts! It seems you built this entirely in a two car garage? Perhaps with extra depth and a temp paint booth? I'd love to know more about your shop as well, Ken!

When we first started talking about the build I asked what he wanted out of it. He said he wanted side exhaust and LOUD and then mentioned driving with his wife. I didn't think he'd be happy with it loud all the time so I suggested the dual exhaust. We used Allen's for the side pipes. It sounded like a novel idea at the time, but after 38 but welds and 12 more for brackets, TIG welding stainless for the first time left me humbled.

I really like the detail cleaning up the underside for paint, nice touch.
Are air cleaners hidden in the intake horns?

Thanks guys. It was a long road but happy with the final result. The owner loves it. We did a test drive on Tuesday. I thought it may be too much car for him, but he proved me wrong.
Just the actuator holding the hood down. There are some rubber bumpers on the hood to make it level with the fender. I need to add one more bumper on either side to limit the side ways movement when closed.
The door panels were a LOT of work. I thought the foam was great until the resin started melting it. Fortunately the resin kicked in time to still hold the shape. I added more activator on the second panel for a faster kick. Still had to smooth it out with body filler. I'm going to try Sintra (PVC foam board) or equivalent next time.
Yes, air filter in the chrome pipes.
Mike C. - I'll post a video of the backup camera popping out of the dash. Pretty slick and simple design which only took about 20 hrs. ... you know how it goes.
Benton - I have a 24 x 24 garage. I used my four post lift as a frame for a plastic tent to act as my spray booth. I made some ductwork with cardboard boxes and use some axial fans from Global Industrial for exhaust. I use plastic ductwork off the fans to direct the exhaust out into the backyard. Hopefully my neighbor aren't reading this.
The setup work ok but struggles when spraying that SPI clear. I'll be taking future cars to an autobody shop to spray base and clear from now on.
Gotta cleanup the workbench before starting the next project.
