Default Windshield Washer Fluid

I have a windshield washer bag on my 66 Coupe. Any advice on what wiper fluid to use? I wasn't sure if all available windshield washer fluids were safe to use in this bag and on this type/age of car.

Unless your getting it judged the next day why in the world would you put fluid in the bag?

I don't have an immediate use for washer fluid. I was just wondering if and when I decided to put fluid into the bag, if anyone had recommendations for a particular type/brand of fluid to use. There are many varieties of washer fluids on the market with wide range of ingredients/additives and I just wanted some input on which ones to use/not use. That's it.

If you think what ever use is going to work you have anything coming. But if I was to try just the old fashion blue type will work

Word to the wise I would remove the bag from the car and fill it up and make sure it holds fluid for a few weeks. So if it leaks out it leaks not in the car

I would probably use distilled water...........and call it a day. About $1 a gallon.

Empty the bag during the winter months or run a bit of the blue stuff with methanol thru it at that time to keep from freezing. Distilled water will leave no water spots if/when used.

I was thinking of just using water but distilled water makes more sense. Thanks, Larry. I appreciate your reply and advice.

Whatever you use in your other car or cars, if any, will be fine.

Distilled water is the only thing the late Tom Maxwell recommended for C1 washer systems. Prob applies to C2s as well.

Sounds good. Thanks. I'll use distilled water when/if necessary. Thanks again!

When we install a new plastic water bottle/jug, we leave it empty unless going for NCRS judging. Then we put water in the jug and tell the owner to make sure to empty it before winter and to clear the pump and lines. The color stuff will discolor the milky color plastic jug. Obviously this is somewhat different than the bag, which I have no experience with.

I use RainX in mine, even though I've only been in the rain a couple of times.

Curious,
when did Chevy use a bag vs the plastic jug? R66 (born 12/65) has a plastic jug.

Only factory AC cars and 65 396 cars got the bag. Or cars with the battery on the drivers side
