Build Dates for a 1957
I came over from the C3 side to ask a question. Do the 1957 Corvettes have a build date down to the actual day like the trim tag shows on a C3 ?

57 build
Ned,
There are a few sites with the Vin postings by date, I.e.:
http://www.rowleycorvette.com/stats57.html
So by having the last VIN built in each month, you can calculate a pretty close build day after subtracting the VINs from each other and figuring the amount of work days in that month and then dividing. You get how many cars were produced on average each day, then based on your vin and the last vin from the month before you'll come pretty close.

On my 63 the calculators show a date a couple of days different than the GM doc from NCRS. So the birthday is on or within a day or so on the calculators.

Thanks for the information. I was seeing if it's possible to narrow it down to a car that was built on June 29, 1957, my birth date, yes I'm old.

I'd love to see EITHER END of 60!!!!!!!!!!!
To the best of my knowledge, at one time, there was only ONE person (St.Louis employee) that could provide the actual day/date of the early St.Louis built cars. But alas, he is no longer with us (some of you here know who I'm talking about).
At the 1981 NCRS Natls in St.Louis (LAST year for Vettes built in St.Louis), Jack had a small notebook which had the FIRST and LAST VIN for EACH DAY of production. I asked him if he had my VIN in his little notebook. He did, and he wrote the first/last VIN on one of his business cards for the day that my 56 was built.
Front and back of his business card (which I still have), with beginning and ending VINs for Sep 7, 1956. Based on the position of my 56 between the VINs for that day, my car would have been out the back door between 10am and noon.
Before the day was over, SOMEONE within NCRS pissed him off big time!
So he closed up his note book and did not give out any VINs during the remainder of the 1981 NCRS Natls. NO ONE, but NO ONE has been privileged to see that book. I don't know for sure what years he had DAILY production VINs listed, but I believe his notes began with 54 or 55 models and went up into the late or early 60s.
I THINK there is one member here who knows who the person was that pissed off Jack, and what he said to Jack. Jack's list of VINs was probably the best, if not the only, list of FOR SURE production VINs/dates. What a shame. Jack's family (as far as I know) has NEVER released any of his notes/documents.

WOW, what a guy to keep notes like that. He must have been an excellent worker in general. Why would someone from the NCRS not like the idea that he kept those notes? I would think they would want to know that information.

Oh and now after hearing from you guys I feel much younger today !!!!!

Great information, Tom. What a missed opportunity for the hobby. Maybe someday someone in his family will offer to share it.
Did the offending person question the authenticity of the notebook?
Enjoyed reading about your '56 in a 1986 Vette Vues I pulled out of the archives this week.
