Hardtop Question
Do roadster owners completely take the convertible top out when putting the hardtop on or just fold it down? If just folded down, is there a special way to fold it to keep from creasing?

On a C1 or C2 ?
They are different beasts. But, in general, the first thing is to make sure the "stack" is proper. That's the height of the folded top in the well behind the seats. If its too high the lid can push down on the top. Then it never hurts to "fluff" out the sides of the top at the pinch points after unlatching it and before folding it. Some, as I do, put white washcloths at pinch points and a long pillow (vendors have them) along the folded top's window.
The non-original crowd buys Haartz Stayfast modern material and then they don't have to worry about it.

For 51 years now, the convertible top has been removed, folded up with a blanket, and put in dry storage before installing the hard top. That's why it still has the original back window that is as clear as when my brother bought the car new.

I just fold mine downwhen I putt the hard top on. I put a towel across the back window to avoid scratching it.
As far as creases go, I put the top up if I wont be driving it for a couple weeks.
Nice car in your avatar!

On my '66, I just put the pillow in the window and fold the top down in the car; put the hardtop on for 5 months and call it good. In the spring, I take off the hardtop and put up the soft top, but leave it in the sun for a couple hours before I latch it.

Thanks for your replies. I am looking forward to getting a hardtop for my car. I am buying it from Glassworks and it won't be delivered until next May. This car is a duplicate of my first new car. Everything is the same except the original one had a hardtop and convertible top.
