I finally got around to installing my Detroit Speed headlight motors and as part of the process, I had remove my headlight switch. It came out easily enough once I figured out I had to pull the **** full out before depressing the release plunger.
After all the new wiring and connectors were installed, I put the switch back in and inserted the ****/shaft only to discover it wasn't engaging inside the switch. I've made sure the release plunger is free but nothing.
Take the switch out of the dash and put the shaft back in. Then pull the shaft all the way out until it stops. Remove the shaft and reinstall the switch in the dash. Then push the shaft in while depressing the plunger fully.

And if that doesn't work, try flicking the release plunger. Sometimes they can hang up and not catch.
