Default Instrument panel lights

How do you replace the bulbs in those lamps arranged around the clock that illuminate the bezels under the A/C and Heat controls? I know there's a bulb in there and there's a green plastic cover but no idea how the bulb comes out.

That is actually a 2 piece assembly. The barrel part has the green filter over the end, and the light is in the socket that fits into the end of the barrel.

Thanks, I was thinking that might be the case but they didn't want to come apart so I guess I just need to try harder.

Just be careful not to break the clip off of the barrel, the socket should exit the opposite end from the green filter

They all came apart fine with some wiggling but unfortunately one filter was missing and one was partially split so I took it the rest the way apart and then glued half back on the barrel that was missing a filter.

The LED lights were too tight in the barrel and I ended up pulling one apart trying to get it back out. Fortunately it only took a little touch-up with an exacto knife around the plastic ring of the LEDs to make them slide easily into the barrels without binding.

I'm also changing all the gauge faces to white and the clock got a new quart movement as well and so far that's the only thing with new face and lights and I like it!

What number led bulb did you use for these center fixtures and where did you buy them? Thinking of replacing mine with leds.

These are what I'm using.

Amazon Amazon

I ordered two sets of ten which kept the price down and so far I'm satisfied with the quality. It seems there's not the same type of choice for ilumination with LEDs as with incandescents. While some do specify Lumens, most just list the number of elements which doesn't really offer an apple to apple comparison. For the instrument panels lights, these certainly seem overkill but I'm going to go with the same bulb everywhere at first and then change any I think need less illumination.
