Just bought a 1962 corvette and I would like to know if I can use the Quickjack to lift my car? It would lift the car by the frame rails and I am uncertain if it is ok to lift this old corvette this way or if could cause damage to the car? https://www.quickjack.com/
The owners manual and service manual has the jack points of your car. I have used those lifts before and find them more of a pain then anything else. Unless you only want to remove the wheels.
I use a set of the 5000 lb capacity units on my C2. Combined with a good quality creeper, they make it pretty easy to address maintenance items. Pulling a transmission is possible but not pleasant. View it like working on a set of very tall jack stands.
One caution is that you need a smooth floor to allow them to be moved without too much effort. Painted concrete works OK, unpainted requires considerable effort.

So then it's ok to pick this car up by it's frame?
That is just about the only place it should be "picked up" (other than by the tires of course)...but check the manual as Keith stated, for the lift points.
It can be picked up in the rear by a jack centered under the differential. But do not try using a jack at the 3rd arm (steering) support bracket in the front. It has been known to crack, when being jacked up. If you want to lift by a jack in the center of the front suspension, then make a fixture to support the vehicle on either side of that bracket.
Something like this:
I have drawings with dimensions, if needed.....

After many months of research on this particular lift, I ordered one last week...the 5000 lb capacity one. They said 7-10 day delivery. I'll report back on how it works in my garage once assembled and used.

Benton,
The lift arrived this afternoon and took about an hour and a half to set it up and lift the car for the first time. I likey!!
P.S. After I took these pics, I let the car down and moved the lift forward about 3" to better clear the rear tires and balance the load. Really a very nice product.

How sturdy are they and does it have a good locking mechanism in case the hydraulics fail?
Yes it has a good locking mechanism and pretty sturdy. I am not sure if I would pull a transmission with them. If I am underneath the car I will back them up with jack stands in place. I pick up my 2002 corvette and my 1969 Camaro. I have not picked up my 62 corvette yet maybe today.

Absolutely. The hydraulics don't actually hold the car up, they're used to just raise the car. The locking system is what maintains the car's height integrity. You can YouTube some very good videos on this lift. The current model has much better locking mechanism and hydraulic fittings than the original. $1340 delivered to my door in Texas from California. No taxes...free shipping...heck of a deal.

For about another $700. you could have had a 4 post lift. Maybe you don't have the ceiling height for it?

That would be correct. I got tired of waiting for a lift to open at my buddy's place when I wanted/needed to do some service. Much more convenient and on my terms now. With a 9'6" ceiling height, a four-poster would have been impractical and I don't need it for everyday use...
