I'll take it.

In the Southwest desert I like to use a Stewart Components water pumps on all my SBC (3) 2 with air and 1 w/o with various radiators and all work just fine !

The gauge says 180 even after a long drive (my measurements say that's about 5-10 degrees lower than reality, but its and old gauge). I haven't seen 95 ambient outside yet, but I don't think that'll be a problem.

If your car cools well at speed, you just need to keep the air flowing well at idle and it'll be cool then too. The electric fan will do this, so put the electric fan in and take it out for any future judging. It's not an irreversible change and it's not that big a job to take it out.

How did you mount it to the radiator? I've used zip ties through the radiator but don't know if that will work on a C2 radiator

Fan is riveted to a bracket that is sandwiched between the shroud and the radiator, braised to the top and bottom of the radiator,. The top of the bracket is shown in the pic below...unfortunately, it's tough to get good pics of the rest at this point...

That is our SP020. This photo is a little out of date as the current brackets cover all the core face and have flapper checks in the corners.

I went thru this same hair pulling process three summers ago. New DeWitts restoration radiator, new hoses, flushed the cooling system, new 180* thermostat, seven blade fan (half in/half out) and still experienced 220* plus in stop and go traffic when 95* plus ambient. Finally installed a new K&B fan clutch...problem solved. I barely see 200* in Dallas summer heat. Give it a try as I thought my fan clutch was functioning, as well
Where and what type of K&B fan clutch did you get - is it the repo? - I was seeing higher temp than I liked at low RPMs - so I "adjusted" the spring on my Napa fan clutch to engage earlier ( move the spring locator over about 1/8 inch counter clockwise) This made a difference, much better. So I have something that helps, but it sounds like you found the "right part"

Thanks,

Aaron

Not a C2, but my C1.

I bought 1/2" x 1/8" strap from Lowes, bent them around and mounted it behind the support on the radiator side. I drilled 1/4 holes in the support, countersunk them and used countersunk allen bolts so the fan shroud would sit flush on the support when reinstalled. I reinstalled the fan shroud and reinstalled the fan and fan clutch. Can't see the electric fan and it NEVER gets hotter than 185*

So, today, we removed the seven blade belt-driven fan from the car shown in my post above, leaving only the thermostat controlled Dewitt SP020. I then went for a 35 mile ride in 85 degree weather, with the Vintage Air, cranked up all the way.

At the end of the ride (it was nice and cool in the car), my infrared gun read 191 degrees at the top of the thermostat housing and the gauge said 180 degrees, never having gone higher, even after it idled for a while as i looked for the infrared gun. Looks like the electric fan is sufficient to cool this. Even the Rochester showed no sign of perc

Anybody need a fan? (just kidding)

Mike

BTW you should be able to adjust the spring on your current fan clutch a full 180*...not just 1/8 inch
