I have 67 conv all stock. My heat shields (just installed) are hitting on drivers side. I have attached four pictures. What am I doing wrong. Fire away I have thick skin.
The first two photos are pass side heat shield. the cable in photo is speedo cable I believe. Is angle right, does it look right?
The second two photos are drivers side, which i think its hitting in front. Its a noise/ vibration I feel in fire wall at low speeds, at start up and at idle. Happens with clutch in or out.
Body bushings are new. Did those last year. Car runs great . The problem occurred after heat shield install. Looks like front is hitting on drivers side. Do they look like I installed right? Exhaust is new and driven for 2 months with no issues has to be heat shields
Daren - I would say from your pics that you have the shields installed too far forward. The driver's side shield looks like it's hitting the inner splash shield or the bracket. Although I don't have my inner shields installed in the attached pic, it shows where my shields are installed relative to the inner shield bracket (white circle). Try re-positioning your shields rearward.
The distance from the exhaust pipe joint to the front of the heat shield should be 15 3/4"
If your first photo is the passenger side, I think it's installed on the wrong side. The sheet metal screw should end up in a near vertical position and installed from the bottom up and should be on the inboard side. That would mean that shield should be on the drivers side.
That would put the one you have on the drivers side having to move to the passenger side, turned 180 degrees.

ok A snake and Mike were right on. Reversed shields and put no more than 15.75 inches from back and works/ fits perfectly. No more noise/ vibrations of shields hitting firewall
