Default gas tank

Has anyone shipped a gas tank? Need to know if shipping is cost prohibitive. I did some online shipping estimates, fedex, ups, and guesstimating size and weight, it was very costly.

I've ordered and had new tanks shipped before and don't recall the shipping to cost anything out of the ordinary...

Thanks, but I should of said I have a used tank for sale, with two forum members interested, and I need to get back to them with shipping cost.

unfortunately it's gonna be L, W, H & weight of the shipping container; it is whatever they charge. AARP & AAA get a discount.

Bus may be cheaper...

Local repair and a rubber liner may be cheaper. Race cars all run a rubber bladder to take the job over when the tank gets bent.

Shipping is expensive but you can find quality tanks on eBay with free shipping. Tanks with shipping are less money than just the tank from many vendors.

You might try contacting Greyhound Bus as an alternate shipping co. Years ago they were fairly cheap.

A couple months back somebody on here offered a used one free, you pay the shipping. When I looked into it I found brand new ones could be had for not terribly more. It was a generous offer but just not worth it for me. Not trying to screw up anybody's sale here, but do your homework on what the FULL cost to you will be as compared to a new one. (Prices on new ones were all over the map BTW).

I went to UPS with a package and they refused it at first because they said it smelled like gas. It was a compressor and there was no gas. Must have been the cardboard, but it took a while for me to convince them that the package did not contain any thing that once had gasoline in it.
