694 vs. 750 alternator
I found a section within a GM Heritage Center PDF that lists the 327 w/ air conditioning could use the 694 or the 750 alternator. Is this true? If so, I would much rather go with the 61A 750 alternator vs the 55A. Would it matter for California cars that had A.I.R.? I just want to make sure I get the correct one since they can be pretty expensive rebuilt. The one I have in there currently is a 61A from a 72 Corvette/Camaro.

AIR would have no effect on the alternator. Only AC and TI effected the alt used. With only one of the two the 51 amp rating A car with both AC and TI would get the 61 amp

Not certain about 1966 or earlier/later 1967's.

Mine only has AC...no TI. It is an early VIN (OCT 65).

Anybody out there know about the 66 model year and how they distributed the alternators? If I get a 55A 694, will I have any issues? Anyone out there use the 694 with AC?

NCRS Judging Manual for 1966 model year shows #750 alternator as the primary alternator for 327 engines with either AC or the combination of TI and AC. They footnote that alternator could be #694 if only had AC and not TI.
327/300 engines could not get TI..........only 327/350 engines could get TI as an option. Obviously TI was also available for the BB engines.
The 1966 Judging Manual shows #696 42 amp alternator for engines with TI only.

Awesome. Thanks Larry! So it looks like I could go with either by NCRS and still be good. I think I will look for a 750, because why not get the larger one if you have the option?
