Louie... unless you're TRON (dated reference!), you can't experience anything digital -- it still has to end up analog for us to interact with it.
Much like auto maintenance, computer programming is a combination of grunt work and creativity, with the more interesting projects having more of the latter!

I picked up a digital device that was fixed at a nearby shop. I exchanged chatter with the tech, a pale 30-something guy with pimples and a pony tail—a common subspecies here in Silicon Valley. I expressed gratitude that he could fix digital crap and said I was more familiar with carburetors and engines. He related that his dad once tried to teach him how to change oil on an old Datsun, but that the “physicality” of dealing with a jack, jack stands, drain plug and wrench, and the “mysteries” (his word) of getting the filter off and on were just too much. I walked wordlessly back to my car as he retreated into his cave to enjoy the non-physicality of endless ones and zeros.

C2 of the Year Finalist - Modified 2020
While enjoying time at the beach this summer, I have witnessed people, and this does include adult men, with little to no ability to stick/secure a beach umbrella in the sand. Dennis

My twin daughters are both out of the household and married, but they learned the importance of oil changes and a few other things along the way. They tell me they still watch the tech at the oil change place and remind him not to strip the drain plug. They have both changed out and jump started batteries. I also, made them change a tire when they were 16. Just in case. And dad is only a cell call away!

Its in common use - like the non-existent word "irregardless"... A colloquialism...doesn't make anybody stupid or uneducated.
I used to park my 66 Mustang Fastback in my reserved parking spot at the Securities & Exchange Commission along with the other Federal execs. It sat in between the BMWs, Jaguars and Mercedes. It was strongly hinted to me that driving an old muscle car might be the best idea for my 'image'...

True, but common use does not always align with erudite or even educated.
Not to be excessively pedantic, but if possible, one should always eschew obfuscation.
For all intensive purposes, anyways.

Sorta like the original commentator's use of the coordinating conjunction "and" to start a sentence in post #25 above. Bad grammatical form but accepted as a stylistic convention... An erudite person criticizing a professor's use of a widely-accepted colloquialism should know that
Everybody on here has their own idioms they use frequently so I don't know why stones are being thrown. "Ain't nobody got time for dat!"
This thread has just gone sideways...

I have two better than that...
My brilliant 19yo college junior was building same kind of wing for a school project and was looking it on the web and having trouble getting the cardboard to comply. My wife said "ask dad!" He said "This is science mom." I have been a jet mechanic for 32 years?!?
Next, I was passing by his room when I notice he was watching a video on how a impact gun works... I said come out to the garage and you can actually use one.
He declined it was hot and dirty outside. - My shop is carpeted and has a/c...
Thank goodness he got a 35 on his act, and his major computer science and engineering.
He has a photographic memory and I will go far and do great things as long as he doesn't have to get dirty and sweat.
He set up the high school internet and servers network plus is apple repair certified. He really is scary smart, but that is our future.

I am remodeling a house I bought with my son. He is trying, but I am afraid when he swings the hammer that we might be heading to the E.R.
He is a great kid though... physics major...can explain all kinds of stuff to me that I have no idea what he is talking about... maybe his interest is in flying kites or light bulbs because he talks about the theory of strings and dark matters..

Well don't let it happen again - look at all the ruckus you caused! THAT'S why grammar is important, misuse generates friction and debate between those who will and who will not tolerate it. And as someone said above, ain't NOBODY got time for THAT sheeit!

But, of course, you meant "for all intents and purposes" if we're going to get real technical here...but I like the rest of it
