Default oil pan

I had a 502HT engine installed in my 66 but the oil pan is too low is there an optional one that is shallower

Check Moroso's site. They are the king of oil pans. If one is not available they can make one for you

Canton Racing Products is also a supplier of high quality oil pans for a wide variety of applications. From street to strip as well as road racing. Here is their BBC stock depth wide sump oil pan for Mark V and VI Big Block Chevy's.

Good luck... GUSTO

Just a basic thought for you. If you replaced a SB with this 502BB, the additional weight on the front may be a part of your issue. Also, if your springs are original they may be out weighed with the BB and your front is lower then it should be. Dennis

Not really better, the owner stole most of the designs from Moroso

Thanks for the feedback Bluestripe67 but it is a big block car so weight should not be an issue. I'll check out Moroso and Canton guys thanks

You should not have to go with an aftermarket pan on a 502. Put a regular GM Corvette pan on it and you should be good to go. If not, you either have it sitting very low or you need new front springs. Make sure you get a pan that has the correct front and rear seal size, I believe the later engines like your 502 used a larger rubber seal on the rear main cap.

Thanks JRM5657 the 502 came with its own pan which may be deeper to accommodate the crank.I'll see if I can find the pan from the 427 block and see if it works. Really a pain everywhere has speed bumps and even approaching at an angle doesn't work

Just in case I can't find a pan could someone measure the depth of the standard corvette pan for me so I can compare it to the one on the 502. Cant remember if my old pan was a double hump or not. Ah the golden years

I used the Moroso pan after I hit a rock and put a hole in the stock 502 pan. I did the change over in 2004 and it's served me well.
