Default HELP Brake Issue

My 64 has 65 and up GM Delco Moraine 4 wheel disk with 67 dual master power brakes. Drove it to the Corvettes By The Sea show put on by the Corvette Club of RI (Great Show) the other day and as I was cruising down the I295 I could feel the drag of the brakes. I had adjusted the E-Brake several days earlier and thought maybe I set them a bit too tight because it doesn't have much holding power. Put it up on jack stands yesterday (cold) and everything seemed fine. I backed off the E-Brake adjustment a little bit to see if that was the issue. After about 4 to5 miles around town today, it started to drag again. I pulled over and all four spinners were hot.
Has anybody had a similar issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ray

I had that when the pedal to M/C rod was too tight. Gets worse as it heats up. I'd back off the clevis adjustment- maybe 1 or 2 turns.

If the problem occurs with all four wheels, I would check the rod behind the master cylinder. It could be too long. It does not take much to place a drag on the wheels as things heat up with usage. My friend had a 68 which did the same thing. We adjusted the rod and all was well. It could also be a bad M/C. Good luck. Jerry

Thanks for the help. I'll try that tonight. It's just odd, as I've put about 2000 miles on it with no issue until now.
thangs again,
Ray

Default Brakes

Thanks Dave and Jerry. As soon as I got the first reply, I new what I did. I was putting the firewall insulation fasteners in, and for leverage, I was pulling on the brake pedal. I had to straighten the little bracket for the bumper and the switch. I had an extra switch so I replaced it at the time. When I straightened the bracket, I must have pushed it too far forward. Took fifteen minutes to straighten out the brakes.
Thanks to both of you,
The Forums always been helpful.

ray, I read your post today. I noticed you have 4 wheel disc brakes on your 64. gm flavor. I have a 64 roadster with wilwood disc brake set up on front with gm dual m.c.(manual) and drums on the rear. I want to put discs on the rear of my car and have not done it before. I have 17'' wheels and offset trailing arms already on the rear. I am trying to find a parts list of what I will need. I want to keep my stock ebrake and use vette brakes like you did on the rear. a lot less expensive, and I don't autocross. I can send you a pm or email if you can advise on this.
thanks,phil

You are lucky you have a 64 as you can use most of the ebrake setup. IMHO you don't gain much with rear disc brakes. If I had to do it again I would put only front discs on my 63. I had to change out the entire ebrake system to a 64 to get rear discs on my 63.

Phil,
I wish I had information for you. The conversion was done by the previous owner in the 70's. I tore it all down and restored everything, but I just ordered parts for '65'. I don't remember having any mating issues with the E-brake. I also went with a 67 dual master with power assist. I used all '65' brake blocks and lines. You will have to trim back the axle bumper mount on the chasse to clear the caliper. I think the trailing arms can be set up from drum to disk, but not sure. Also don't know what variables will come into play with your offset trailing arms.
Wish I could be more help,
Ray
