I would like to change from stock exhaust manifolds to a shorty header that will dump right in the same place so I don't have to alter my side exhaust. I would prefer ceramic coated if possible.
Can someone who has made this change tell me what will fit with stock manual steering? Thanks for any help.

What for? .....shorties have been tested and proved time and time again they make no performance gain over stock manifolds. Only long tube headers make power.

I have McJacks, love them. Perfect fit, metallic/ceramic coated ourside, copper coated inside!
They do enhance the sound - and dyno tests do show a slight performance improvement above 5000 rpm or so - but what street car spends much time there....
Like was said above, its not about the performance. Those enhancements don't produce any more milk.....
I'm using The Sanderson BB5's on the 502 with Side pipes by Allan's.
I bought the straight pipe and had the bend Fabed to the collector. Not sure if they will mate with the stock Factory side pipe collector on your vette.
Clearance issues will be the idler arm top bolt and the Steering box closeness. As stated ...full benefit is with long tube headers over shorty's.
Headman makes a Set of 36" full tubes for your side pipe car. But..you still will have to have a Flange and bend tube fabed up by your local Muffler shop.
McJacks looks like they make a nice set, but I wasn't ready for the $800 price tag. I guess you get what you pay for. I'll have to think on this for a while. Thanks for the info.
