Default restomod hood latch

Any of you that have done the linear actuator for the hood without latches have any input pro or con. I'm planning on going this route and am curious about the hood shuting and any movement or lifting of the hood at speed.

I haven't used it but know of someone that has numerous times. Seems to work great, only con being the cost, hood jumping up and down during transit. Make sure you have access to disconnecting the actuator incase it goes bad while in the close position. Using a pin on the bottom mount usually works.

A buddy used one on his C3 restomod. The trick is make sure once hood is closed it stops completely. Those actuators will rip a hood apart. Either put a limit switch in it or set it up so when it's closed actuator is at end of its travel. They have built in limit switches once they get to end of travel.

Surplus Center has actuators that are programmable.

LINEAR ACTUATOR CONTROLLER KIT
Brand new, GLIDEFORCE linear actuator controller kit for use with one I.E.I. LACTP series linear actuator. Pushbuttons give manual control of travel and can also be programmed to move actuator to any of three customer determined preset positions. Indicator light shows at which of these custom presets unit is currently positioned. Once programmed the display unit can be removed and three SPST momentary switches (not included) added to make actuator move to preset positions at the press of a button.

Controller kit includes central control unit, user input display, two wiring harnesses, mounting hardware and instructions.

I have them on 2 of my cars you have to have some kind of a rubber stop at the fire wall. I used a C3 seat stop in the original center latch mounting hole.

I have similar rubber stops to Mark6669. Remember to reinforce the hood with a metal insert where the actuator will bolt/attach to avoid stress areas.

Is there any buffeting of the hood at highway speed?
Thanks

The downward force of the wind is in your favor with the direction of the hood. With the actuator arm braced from underneath coupled with the wind at highway speed, you will be fine.
I do notice a little movement but no stresses.

Both hoods are pulled down tight and don't move at all, it takes a little time to get the actuator adjusted correctly but once it's tight it won't move.
