I have a 1965 Corvette Conv. that is totally rebuilt to new factory spec.
What I am looking for is the factory paper work for the car showing what it had when it was sold, what dealer, and anything else

??? The St. Louis plant was destroyed in a fire decades ago along with most all of the major records and build sheets of the cars built there. GM had the remnants demolished years ago. I've always assumed that's one of the big hiccups that pre-Bowling Green owners deal with if you don't have access to the original build sheet and documentation.
it goes to provenance.....some people care about their family tree others are scared of who they will find.
different strokes for different folks
and it authenticates the car, if it is real or just a clone of a desirable build, is the 65 a 'real' fuelie or a 396 or not, and value is tied to being able to prove it. Docs the op wants don't just exist somewhere out there, next in line the POP is extremely important.

I really meant it would not matter to me...if it was the car I wanted now, I would be more concerned about what happened to get it in the condition its in now (done right?) than what GM did 52 years ago. I don't look at cars as investments though, I know some do.
NCRS should have paperwork on the selling dealer and the day the car was built.
Then the detective work begins. You can TRY to identify options and colors from the TRIM Tag and just looking at things in the car...........but you have to know what you are looking for.
There are also a few companies for hire that try and research the owners and paper trail for you. We can give you names if you want. Not too $$$$$$$, but not cheap either.

Did you read the entire thread?
Although what you state above is good info as well the OPs question was basically answered in Post #4.

Yes, I read the entire thread. Until my posting, no one had given him any information regarding what he can do to get the info he desired. Not even how to find the original dealer.
Often finding previous owners also = finding some original paperwork that may be laying around.
Did I make a mistake in my reply?? Should I have remained on the sideline and not replied?? Let me know.

No, it just sounded like you thought no one was answering his question at all. Many of us know what you had posted but other than the trim tag on some cars there is little else you can find. The shipping report will give you the original selling dealer that may or may not still be in business and if they are have likely changed hands and don't have 50 year old paperwork. If they even saved anything other than a copy of a purchase order that may or may not have options of the car but rather just the original owners name (likely deceased) V.I.N., selling price, trade info if relevant. In short it is a loooong shot. Not that if it is REALLY important to you it isn't worth trying, I just wouldn't get your hopes up.
