Hi Away from resources, can you tell me what this motor is from.
Pad V08088HE

Also what is the box that has the speedo cable going in/out with a plug socket?

HE suffix in 67 is 327/300HP with 4bbl and manual. The intake is correct. There should be a date code near the intake number. Can you get the block number?

There's one too many digits in each of those first two numbers you gave.

An extra 8 in the engine code and an extra 0 in the vin for it to be a 67 Corvette, but the intake casting number is correct for a 67.

I agree that the one item is some form of aftermarket cruise control. No '67 SB Corvette came with that type carburetor. All '67 SB had a Holley List 3810...so not sure.

That is the casting date and it is G66=July 6th 166 so likely for a 1967 model car.

G86 = July 8, 1966.

Correct for a 1967 engine built in the first several months of 67 production, most likely too late for a 66 (if this intake was used for a 66, I don't know - too lazy to break out the Colvin book this late).

Check the engine block casting date - it's on the rear block surface behind the distributor, IIRC.

68 hemi is correct, it is 866, July 6, 66.

That date is consistent (matches) the early vin (299), and I bet it aligns with the engine assembly date which I think reads August, 8, 1966 (your last 8 is actually a 6).

I would say you are matching up.

Looks like the VIN is stamped assuming you added an extra 0. Double check.

And as I said earlier, an extra digit on the stamp pad.. Recheck both stamps.

It sure appears that way. You have the VIN stamped on the front pad. So it's either the original engine (likely given it's a base 327 vs a 427) or it was restamped.

Can you post a picture of the front pad that has the numbers? There are folks on here that can tell you if it looks original.

I guess the picture's the only way we'll get by that ignoring the extra 8 in the engine identification I've been asking about.

Jack is traveling today but he might be able to post the pad picture later. Jack is doing all of this research to help me out.

Thanks Jack

Hi, pictures of pad too dark, but I found the problem, in the picture you see one zero crossed out, I was dictating the numbers and I didn't know if he wrote 2 or 3 zeros...I think I corrected him and he crossed out the 3rd

Same type of mistake in Vin

Jack
