Default For replacement glass, has anyone used

...Auto City Classic? I need rear dated glass.

Anyone have or know of real-life, real experience with this company?

Yes. I've used them several times and their glass has always fit perfectly. They ship quickly too and package the glass very well.

I've used them for the past 30 years. All good. I just ordered a full set of 63 convertible glass tinted, and a power window kit. Got it all last week.

Mike...Not to get side tracked, but I am not impressed with their power window kit thus far. The motors are pretty slow. Im going to play with them a bit more and connect power directly to the battery, but with the way i currently have them connected(factory harness and circuit breaker), they are slower than factory motors.

I had no idea they were in business that long.

That recommendation is good enough for me, thanks.

They recently changed them. They were so fast before, that someone could get hurt. The OEM motors were pretty slow. I called them a few months ago, because I was concerned about the last set that I bought. I thought that they had gone to a cheap motor. I was told that they made a gear change, and that the motors are the same. The jury is still out for me. I liked them a lot better when they were fast.

I purchased C! door glass from them dated and it was good stuff. The packing is out of sight. I've got enough bubble wrap to last me a long time.

I always bought dated stuff from OEM Glass so after they went belly-up I had to find a new go-to company...

I purchased both the door glass and windshield from them for the 58.

Here is the windshield upon arrival

Truck driver said "looks like it was dropped along the way........"

Called ACC immediately - before I even let the truck driver go. They told me that they had had issues with this particular carrier in the past but thought they were resolved. Told me they would have a new windshield out shortly. The replacement one arrived a little over a week later - different carrier this time - in perfect shape.

And yes, they use a ton of bubble wrap. Bonus for me as I reuse it when I need to ship stuff out.

Bottom line - I would not hesitate to use them again. Quality product (although the glass is thinner then the original but that is just the way its made today - in Mexico)

Just a followup to this... I ordered the glass Monday, a day after getting home from Carlisle. It arrived today, less than 48 hours later, wrapped to the hilt and in a big safe shipping box.

Looks good, logo/date etching looks right and done from the inside out as requested. I have no idea how it will fit (probably goes in during winter) but until then, Im impressed.

Thanks again for the input.

Does the new glass being 1/3 thinner cause a problem with it sealing in the gasket? Dave

I don't think their C2 glass is thinner than the original. I've certainly never had an issue or noticed a difference and I'm on my 4th full set. I've also used them for sixties mustang glass with no problems.

I was asking based on post #9 above where the difference in measure was shown. I'm happy to hear you haven't had a problem with it especially after four successful installs. Thanks. Dave

I've been dealing with Auto City, for about 20 years. I have quite a few customers using their glass, and haven't had any complaints. I have absolutely no problem recommending them.

I know this is a bit off topic, especially on a Corvette Forum, but Auto City has some really neat glass for first generation Camaros, "molding less" front and rear glass. I recently ordered it for a customer who's building a 69 resto-mod. The glass comes a little oversize, and has to be trimmed to fit by a glass shop, but once installed, it gives the early Camaro a really clean modern look.

The C1 W/S glass is also a lot thinner. I never drove in the rain but I pity the guy who will have to.

According to post #9 glass measures .010" thinner (.231" vs. .221").

I used them for the replacement of my windshield on '64. They are thinner, used a gasket from Steele products, or Corvette Rubber, and you'll be o.k. They have glass that is already date coded and not used, so ask about that, you'll save some money.

I did. I also saw another full set and a single piece on the grounds. Plus, a member from Canada who agreed to meet me with his set was stopped at the border and refused entry with his parts. He offered to ship but it is not possible to buy these parts without looking at them first.

I preferred to buy used originals, but after 3 years or so of chasing its become apparent that it's unreasonable for me to find a set of used pieces of one year only 50+ year old glass in excellent condition, at any price.

So, repro became the only option. I have a nice NOS windshield also going in this winter so it's time to do this. This glass doesn't feel particularly thinner than the pieces I looked at last week, so ill just have to see how it works out.
