? Window glass tinting green or smoke gray
Hey Guys
I just got this 1966 Red coupe 427 425 hp and found that I have a mixture of glass that is damaged or the date code is wrong..
I've decided to just replace it all .
I see they offer three options
1 clear
2.green tint
3. Gray Smoke.
I've checked the NCRS specification guide but they don't talk about the tint
Color was there a gray smoke option in 1966 i know the green was..
I really only want to do this once.
I do plan to get it judged down the road and I'm just beginning this
Journey .. What's my options ?

You had all clear glass. Just the windshield tinted. Or the windshield plus other glass with green tint

If you go with tinted glass and you want to get the car judged NCRS, no one makes a windshield that will pass judging. Except the one that came with your car in 66.

Hey thanks. So that being said . I would be wasting my money on the date codes and really would matter if it was green tint or smoked gray ?

All factory tinted glass in 1966 was green that is all that was available.
If you are looking for the most NCRS points go with the clear date coded glass.

Not sure what you are saying here. How do you know that his car had all clear glass? They came from the factory as clear standard, or optionally with just the windshield tinted or all tinted glass.

OK, understand now. I thought you were responding about the OPs specific car. Maybe "you could get" rather than "you" would not have lead me to believe you were talking about HIS car.

Usually the green e-z-eye tint was used for the side glass when you had AC. Smoke gray was never and option then, clear or green only. The w/s was shaded, dark band at the top and green tint on the lower portion.

Hey Guys. I'm on track now I hope. I will stay with the correct date coded glass
And green tint. It's. 1966 January car Coupe 427 425 or 450 who knows ..
The front window was chipped badly and from July 67 UZ. the rear was delaminating showing air pockets on the side and wrong date. TA code. Aug 66
Drivers roll up was chipped bad in one spot YJ code OCT
The wing window were both ok code on one was XJ & YJ
Reason I want to replace all of it was to make sure the date codes were right and that
The 3 side windows that were ok didn't jump out setting next to the new glass.
I'm in to the car for 75K so I think I got room to get it all replaced so it matchs and all the codes are correct. Car came with a new uninstall front window last owner bought and he
Didn't know any better and matchs the damaged ones code .. So My friends just had the car
A few days and I'm glad you guys are all here .

The glass company did all the glass for all the cars in batches. So it's not unusual see glass with wide range of date codes. NCRS allows up to one year
