If you hare stuck and trying to weather this storm out. Fill your extra Ice Chests and your extra bathtubs with fresh water while it still works. This may be needed till things get back to normal. With a bucket this extra water can even flush a toilet as needed.
As bad as this looks you may need to ride it out for weeks not days.
Our West Coast thoughts are with you guys. Stay Safe.
battin down the hatches, prayers with all still there in it's path. Play some Jimmy Buffet or Harry Chapin's 'Dance Band on the Titanic' and hope for the best !
The outer rain bands will start here in a few hours. Still quiet and no wind but it will start getting rough late this afternoon. The worst will be about 1:00 AM. I'm sure we will loose electricity for a few days or weeks. Looks bad. I'm about 15 miles north of Clearwater.
How are you all doing who stayed in FL. for what ever reason. Hopefully you are ALL doing well. Take shelter if you can. and get drunk
Here, north of Orlando, we're doing OK. We lost cable and wifi about 30 minutes ago so we're on cellular data. Gusts are just starting to hit tropical storm speed. The worst should come for us in 5 or 6 hours.
How about you guys over on the coasts? Are you still with us?

I've been watching the Weather Channel all day. Looks like the storm is degrading substantially as it heads North staying over land. Hopefully that continues. Still formidable but maybe not as strong as they felt it would be.
Good luck.
Earlier in the week, they were saying that if Irma went through the extremely warm water of the Florida Straits, it would spin up as high as 225 mph. Fortunately, it looks like it's slowed down to 130 mph after hitting Cuba so they're now predicting it will ramp up to 150. I can't even wrap my head around 225.
We're in the middle of the State, about an hour north of Orlando. We're going to take some wind but our elevation is 183 feet so no flooding or storm surge. If anyone is in an area that will flood or have storm surge and wants to get out, your options for leaving the State are probably disappearing at this point. If you can get over here to the Mount Dora area, you and your family are welcome to come. Just let me know. Don't stay in an evacuation area. Get out. We have 2 generators plus another one on the motorhome. Lots of food and water. I can fit one more car in the garage. To top it off, our homeowner's insurance agent is coming over to ride out the storm with us so I think we have everything covered <LOL>.

It is rare you find AMERICANS that have the trust and compassion to help strangers and invite them into their home in times of need. Reminds me of the Bible and the words therein. Thank you Steve for showing the love and compassion to help your fellow man.

Thanks, but it seems the right thing to do. I didn't give it a lot of thought.
There was a woman in Houston who saw some stranded people on a corner. She stopped and invited them all to her house. Then sh went back and found some more. By the time she was done, she had 17 strangers in her house, very young to very old, all skin colors. She may have saved their lives.

Do you know why they maned Hurricanes after women ? Because they can be a Bitch sometimes and now that they have ran out of womens names they will have to use mens names and the Hurricanes will now be His a canes.

I can get to work without a boat in California. Texas was hit very hard and with Florida getting bombed I guess we took our eye off how bad Texas was hurt by flooding. My niece went to TCU on a swimming scholarship.
I don't think we will get her back. She loves Texas.

Good thing she's a strong swimmer!
All kidding aside, here's hoping for the best for everyone whose lives have been impacted by these disasters.
