9.10@158
Gear shift **** came off in my hand on the 1-2 shift. Threaded part was still on handle but **** separated from the threaded nut. Made next shifts fun just grabbing the handle!

Thanks guys. That was a few months ago. Next time out it ran a 9.10@161.27. Still haven't got that magic 8 sec time slip yet though.
I ended up having one of my fuel pumps die and I lost a piston and hurt the head a little. Sounds bad, but it could have been a lot worse. I've been flogging this thing for 5 years with this combo now.
It's all going back together now. Shortblock is together...waiting on heads to come back and I'm upgrading the cam a little to see how it does. Need to tweak things a little to work better with the little turbo's.
Here's another video with in car stuff so everyone can take a ride!

On that pass I was coming out at low RPM and bogging it some to try and get some traction. Pulled it way down and a hard pull back to RPM...but once up there it stays there. Crossing the line at just a hair under 8000 RPM.

LOL...sound is deceiving with turbos and mufflers. Take a look at the inside view and the tach readings. More like 7300-7500'ish most of the time.

You gotta figure there's about1400+ HP in front of the trans....that tends to speed up the acceleration rate through the gears!!! That was a low 9 sec run at about 160 mph.
My trans is a G-Force 5 speed. Similar design to a Richmond/Doug Nash 5 speed...but a WHOLE lot different on the inside. It's a crash box with no synchro's (drives fine on the street with a little practice). I have a steep 1st gear and run through in 4th gear. 5th is usually for top end stuff and highway cruising.
Actually my gearing is weird. Originally I set it all up for the N/A combo....I would cross the line in 4th at around 7450 RPM. With the turbo's I re-geared the trans to what I "thought" it might need but the HP has continued to get better and MPH keeps climbing. I wasn't planning on turning 8000 RPM through the lights...but here I am! I can grab 5th but it pulls it down pretty hard. The engine doesn't seem to care too much..but it sure likes to scream too.
Richmond's and my trans have a normal pattern with 1-4 normal and 5th up and over to the right and reverse down below 5th. I DID swap it around when I did the TX Mile to get a little O/D in 4th gear (5th will always be 1 to 1 the way trans is designed). I wasn't sure how happy the engine was going to be on a long hard pull like that so I was trying to kill a little RPM. Turned out I didn't need to do it.
Changing trans ratios is pretty easy by swapping some gears around and mixing/matching them.
If I was doing this purely for racing I'd change rear end gears and gear trans to use all 5 gears down the track...but I like my 3.07 rear gears.
Of course I've got a new cam coming....might have to tweak things a little more...or spin it higher!

Burning Brakes
The reason is because of the sliders. In Jim's box and in my Gforce G101 4 speed in my Nova box they use dog rings instead of regular syncros. There is quite a bit of backlash in the transmission which aids in shifting at high rpm. In fact I don't use the clutch at the track to shift the car and never let off the go pedal. Just shift it like a prostock car. The downside is you need to rev match and pay attention if you drive one of these transmissions on the street.

Ck these two videos. There's some inherent issues with the trans, but they CAN be made better.

That is my Richmond in those videos. I bought it from a forum member who lived near Paul’s shop and he took it down there for me as he told me it didn’t shift very well. Like Jim, I wanted 3.08’s for cruising so the Richmond looked like a great option. Paul did tell me he likes the Richmond better than the TKO’s as far as strength goes. I will report back in a couple of months when the car is rolling again as to how it shifts. Paul is a great guy to deal with that’s for sure! And if I blow up the Richmond, I am all set up for a Gforce lol!

The cam in it with the turbos is a Crane 248/248 on a 114 LSA. It has .756/.714 lift with my 1.8/1.7 rockers.
It's at Bullet cams right now being reground with a few more degrees of duration.
The old cam when it was N/A was an Engle 266/272 on a 112 LSA. It had .774/.731 lift.
None of them are 4-7 swap....but they are all on steel cores with cast iron distributor gears.
