I found a 1966 and a 1967 Corvette listed as flood cars in the Houston, TX area. I did not find the cars you indicated.

guys ,you have to see some of these so called ''FLOOD CARS'',,
I just got back from the Houston area ,and a lot of these are only water -just over the rockers,on the floor pans,,I went thru a whole inventory of a ford/chevy dealer and there were a few nice new cars/trucks
and yes some are submarines too,,im going back in a few weeks too,,and a lot of these cars are being shipped all over the country to other auctions,as they don't have the room there

All of these cars are now covered by the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System.
If the insurance company totals the car for flood damage (or any other reason) that VIN is reported as a total loss due to flood. The flood brand will remain with that VIN in the database from that point on.
Now, what actually happens to the car may be a different story. The car can certainly be rebuilt, and put back on the road.
The car can even be registered in a state that does not issue titles for cars that old.
BUT, BUT, BUT .. THAT VIN WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE FLOOD BRANDING ASSOCIATED WITH IT.
If the car is not reported as a loss to the insurance company, and the title remains clear and in the current owner's name, all bets are off.

I suspect you meant to provide this link:

A search of this website for all 1953 to 1972 Chevrolet cars (not just Corvettes) that have water damage shows only the 1964 Corvette with the incomplete VIN listed above

I would consider there to be a difference between a flood car from salt water and a flood car from fresh water - although as noted above it will always have a black mark on it's record and big ding on it's value. I can't imagine trying to restore a salt water flood car but to build a driver for long term ownership and enjoyment, a fresh water flood car might be a good project. Build it, enjoy it and let your heirs worry about the re-sell.

If this is the same car I saw pics 3 weeks ago. It's black with a BB hood and white stinger. A friend's wife works for State Farm. The buyback for the owner was $11K, my friend was interested and the insured was trying to flip it and wanted $12K. It looks like someone bit and is trying to flip it online. I wouldn't have paid $12K much less $20K+, but that's just me. I believe I heard it was an L-79.

The real issue is the glass value ceiling of a "salvage" title going forward.
