Reliable or Exotic Auto Transport....
Beware of brokers that 'farm out' the job to the cheapest bidder!

Intercity Transport. I've used them several times and there's none better. The big collectors use them so they're very busy when there's a big auction going on. http://www.intercitylines.com/

I just used Intercity to transport my 57 cross country. Very courteous and professional, competitive pricing and you actually have a REAL person answer the phone when you call! Almost non-existent these days.

Too bad your request wasn't on Sept. 25th. The fellow who bought my 67 had L.A. Prep transport the car in a new 6 car enclosed trailer from Michigan to Los Angles. Driver stated he had only one more car to get in Indiana unless dispatch got him another pick-up. The new owner of my car called and said it arrived yesterday in L.A. The charge was $2000. I was impressed with the equipment and the care that the driver took on loading the car. The new owner says he has used L.A. Prep before.

I used Belavia Auto Transport out of Florida this week. Booked through a broker when one of the companies mentioned above I had pre-booked said they couldn't get mine in TX for a few weeks. Nice truck, pro driver who stayed in touch, painless experience.

On this particular transport, mine was the clunker...

He was, last one was transported from Sacramento, Calif. to Santa Fe, NM, and about $1/mile.

A few years ago I used Reliable, which was very slow, but the transport and driver were outstanding. I recently tried to book them and they didn't seem interested, said it would be a month. I went to Executive, a broker, car was here in 5 days, driver stayed in touch from pickup, very satisfied.

I think the key is to contact all the top 5 or 6 carriers, and ask for timing and cost. That way you can see who has trucks in that area and want to fill them ASAP. I once did that a few years back, and Exotic asked me if the car could be ready for pickup tomorrow and quoted a good price. You can do the brokering yourself too.

I used Reliable from Pittsburgh PA to SF CA area when reverse went out on my 2000 and my wife did not want me to drive back. The only downside was the wait for pickup, a few weeks at my brothers house and he had to drive it to a nearby shopping center parking lot for loading. Great husband/wife team and I also had to meet them at a shopping center parking lot about 5 miles from my house. The trans repair was much worse !!!!

I agree as I have used both and they are very good. Don't use the cheaper brokers.
