Default Motor ID

I have an engine casting #3789935 which is supposedly a 61-64 283 cu in.
Assembly ID #F-103 ID. From what I understand the F stands for Flint where the corvette motor is made. It has a 2 4 barrel intake GM part#3739653.
Is this a true vette motor? Would be willing to sell.

Welcome to the Forum!
I'd suggest putting this information request on the C1/C2 section of the Forum: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-1953-1967-21/
Good luck.

Good luck.

And if you want to sell it here on the forum, you need to post it here:

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-c2-parts-59/

Be sure to include a forum-required asking price.

Welcome to the forum!

Google would assist with your casting number, and you may find the rest in the C1 - C2 area.

Moving this over to the C1 & C2 Corvettes Section. And as mentioned, if you intend to sell some parts, be sure to post them in the C1/C2 Parts for Sale section.

If you could post a pic of the engine stamp pad and the block casting date code (found on upper rear ledge, right side), it might answer a lot of questions.

Yes, the 3789935 block was a 283 but only used in Corvettes during 1961. The engine assembly stamp starting with “F” should be followed by a four number date code (month and day) and then a two-letter suffix. If you’re saying the suffix is “ID” it doesn’t track with any 283 suffix I can find. The “F” engine assembly stamp means it was made at Flint but not necessarily for a Corvette – they also made passenger and truck engines.

This is most likely F I03I D

Flint
I0 = October
3I - 31st
D = suffix code, 283, 2bbl, powerglide, in a passenger car 61-60=170hp, 63-64 = 195 hp
