Default Hard starting C2

I have a 1967 327-350HP convertible.
The car will not start unless you remove the filter housing and hold the choke closed.
What is the proper procedure to start this engine?

If your carburetor is in good serviceable condition, all you should need to do is fully depress the accelerator to the floor (this should close the choke on a cold engine), depress the accelerator one more time (slowly) to inject a shot of gasoline and then turn the ignition key to the start position. If the car hasn't been sitting for a lengthy period of time (weeks or more), the car should fire right up.

Leif's got it.

But, you don't need to choke an engine to start it. If the gasoline hasn't evaporated out of the carburetor and if your accelerator pump will shoot a stream of gasoline, all you should have to do is pump the accelerator a couple of times, hesitate to let the raw fuel vaporize and then hit the key and it should start. Without a choke. In the coldest weather. Once running, the choke will help keep it running until the engine warms up.

If your accelerator pump won't squirt with a cold engine, you have a dry carburetor or a defective pump.
