Default 63 tachometer replacement

The guts in my 63's tach have given up the ghost. Is it possible to remove the gauge from the dash cluster without pulling the steering column and completely disconnecting and removing the entire cluster? I.e., can I just pull it out far enough to disconnect the gauge and slide it out between panel and dash, or, disconnect it and drop it out the bottom?

No, it is so tight behind the dash gauge panel you would not have room to work. At least with my big hands I wouldn't even try it. By the time you tried to make room you could have had it out on and the workbench.

Usually wise to have the speedo checked out too. The small gauges are pretty bulletproof but the cable driven gauges wear. So, yes, a dash pull unless you like doing things twice. Search for the JohnZ article on pulling the dash on the forum. If not, I can upload it. 63s are a bit unique.
