Oman, took the rear out of the maroon 67, it is a 3.08, looks perfect inside, but... someone has changed the spider gears to support those huge sideyokes. I was told it had "dana guts" in it. was going to disassemble it in the next few days and see if I can put it back to stock configuration, or if I can buy sideyokes to support the stock sized u-joints. the current yokes are fine splined and larger diameter then the typical c2-c3 yokes, its possible c4's might fit???

Had a great time last weak, thanks for coming by, Im ready to see your veete or m-carlo next time though. BTW, rejetted center carb and changed v-advance, surge is gone!!! very smooth now.

Just for the record what jets are in the center carb now? Our engines are pretty close in configuration so for a point of reference let me know what is in there.

As to the rearend. Lets see what you can find out. I am a little concerned about the "racing history" of the car itself then of course we have the issue of converting it back to stock. I don't want to do a lot of pushups (read that spend money) converting it back to bolt in configuration for my car. Gotta believe there are a lot of 3:08's around that have been removed in favor of 3:55 / 3:70 / 4:11 and deeper gears. Truth to tell I MIGHT even consider a 2:73 out of an automatic car.

Moving ahead on the Monte Carlo. Re-engineered the glove box to give me a little more room for the VA under dash unit. In effect shortened the depth of the glove box by about 1.5 inches. Now I have more than enough room between the firewall and the dash. Outta the box the VA unit fits but it is very very tight and I was uncomfortable with the amount of "wiggle room". I cut thru the plastic glove box with my trusty recip saw. Sounds crude I know but with the new home made sheet metal "back wall" installed ya can't really tell except for a few visible pop rivets
