Default Bluetooth Question

Ok, so this post might be better for a car audio forum, but I have an account here and it is for my '65 so I thought I'd post here first.

I installed a 4-channel Alpine amplifier in the back of my '65 convertible. I have a power cable running from the battery/ignition to the amp. From the amp, I have a simple RCA (Red/White) cable plugged directly into the amp, and the other end of the cable is a standard 3.5mm jack that plugs into the bottom of my phone. This setup allows me to play music from my phone. What I'd prefer is to attach a bluetooth reciever to this amp. I have a Sonic IQ BTR-24-2609 receiver (see link below) that I would like to somehow hook into the power cable that is running to the amp such that the Sonic IQ turns on when the amp turns on. Then, I would connect the Sonic IQ to the RCA inputs that my current cable is attached to. The Sonic IQ has a standard USB output that I typically connect to a standard wall power adapter that has a USB input for charging.

Question: How can I take the USB cable that powers the Sonic IQ and hard wire it into the power cable that powers my amp? i'm assuming I'll need some kind of voltage converter or something, but I've never done anything like this, so any advice is appreciated.

How does the amp turn on now? Are you using the remote wire or using a jumper from the 12v to the remote on the amp?

The way it works now is I have a wire from the battery to the amp and another wire (smaller) from the amp and tied it into the 12V ignition switch. So, when the car is on, the amp is on.

It looks like the item that After38Years posted is what I need. I'm assuming that I could just tie the black into the same 12V line that is going to the amp and the red wire onto the same connector as the power line from the battery?

According to the product description, if you have an iPhone, this won't work.

The iphone has a built in AMP, the amp in your car is expecting pre-amp input.

I have a similar setup in my 67. I have an aftermarket radio as the original was toast, that has an RCA pre-amp output to AMP (front and rear, L and R) and a remote wire. I also have a himbox bluetooth adapter (

) that has RCA and plugs into the AUX of the radio.

I have had fairly good luck other than the sidepipes being loud

Don't know if this is any help but I installed one of these in my ashtray. Close the lid and it's hidden.
