I have a 64 Corvette and want to install a 78 308 rear. I know there is a difference in the input yoke size but does anyone make a split size u joint? Thanks
Several companies like Spicer and Brute force make them. I have the part numbers in my file at the shop but all you need to do is search for 1310 -1330 conversion u-joint. Spicers have the zerk, BF might be zerkless.
Note- if you are installing an original 78 diff be sure to check the axle endplay- if original they are soft faced and will wear down so you would be better served to replace them now while the diff is out. They also used a flanged head ring gear bolt that didn't have Loctite on them and many backed out so you should check those too. You could replace one at a time if you are not sure about removing the posi case. Use #271 Loctite on them but clean them with acetone or brake cleaner first. Torque them to 60 ft/lb. I always replace them with ARP's.
