just curious... is that a bladder type fuel cell or one with some kind of filler in it? if a filler, how much do you lose in capacity because of the filler?

The fuel cell in my '59 originally had foam filler, but I had read that some of the foam used in these cells tended to deteriorate over time. I took the foam out and replaced it with pieces of PVC tubing with holes drilled in them. The pieces of tubing are arranged vertically in the fuel cell. I gained almost 1 gallon by removing the foam.

Jim, Thinking Ralph Nader may disagree with you on this one. His book, "Unsafe at Any Speed" went after the Corvair in the '60's for having the gas tank immediately behind the occupants. The C-1 stock tank is 1/8 inch of fiberglass behind the driver and passenger, and Corvette bumpers are not famous for high levels of protection.

whagge 70, The tail light filler is always a cool thing, Seen it on a few C-1, and i am about done with a prototype on my '54, but you are also correct that the tank needs to be below the filler. my tank will be in the tire well, so a little more plumbing, and I got it!

Very nicely done. I would be thrilled to get that level of "Clean".
