Old and new Pictures. 46 years with my 65
Celebrated 46 years with my 65 yesterday. I bought the car on November 27, 1971 at 18 years of age for $1,500. First picture was taken yesterday before I took it for a ride to celebrate. The other 2 are from the early 70's when I was a youngster. Excuse the long hair and the bell bottom pants That was the style in those days.

Congratulations to you and your beautiful car. You look like you truly belong together. Love the gas pump by the garage.

Nice car, and you are aging well!, But, excuse me. I didn't have that early 70s dufus look. Must have been a MASS thing!

Congrats! That is a wonderful memory. I have often wished I had that kind of money to buy a C2 when I was 18, but alas I had to wait about 40 years...........

Looks like you had a pass door alignment issue in the last pic.
I think back to the couple years i drove mine in dark grey primer '74 thru '76. I wouldn't do that today...But, i had a lot of fun, and didn't worry about scratching the paint or spilling beer all over it.

I have always liked Glen Green. I've had it long enough to watch it go in and out of favor a few times. The years go way to fast. I don't think I have another 46 in me, but the car might.

The one thing I like the most is driving it. It really brings you back to the good old days. My late father is in the background of one of the old pictures.

As for the hair, it was a Masshole thing. I think there are less flattering terms for some of the Left Coast traditions You have migrated to the right coast though The hair was shaved not long after the pics when I joined the PD.

You and the car are holding up well. Long hair back then ?

Thanks Frankie. Hair was shaved not too long after the pics when I joined the PD. When the Chief interviewed me he said: " the first thing you will do is get a haircut!!!"

Mike, better late than never. I just saved my money working odd jobs and was determined to buy a Midyear. My father thought $1,500 was too much for a "65 Chevy." I told him it was a Corvette and was special and might be worth something some day. One of the few times I could say, I told you so!

Congrats
Congrats on the 46 years together. We almost took the same track. I bought my 68 in 72 at age 19 for $1,800. I still have it today with all of my hair. It is a bit lighter in color though. I tell people I have had the car through 3 dogs that died of old age, lots of girlfriends and a 37 year marriage and two great kids, now adults. Jerry

Great story. I couldn't keep my cool cars from the polyester bell bottom era. I always needed the trade-in cash. Neat story. Thx
