Default Crate engine height

I inherited a 1962 Corvette that had been my father's since 1978 and have been attempting to restore it for the last 2 years. Two months ago I ordered a Chevy crate 350 engine after the crankshaft blew in a non numbers matching 327.
The problem the mechanic is having is the vortec intake manifold, Holley carb and air filter set up is several inches taller than the previous intake which will interfere with the hood closing. According to the tech at Summit Racing there are few low rise intakes for the vortec cylinder heads. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this problem? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Three options.
1. Did you use the 12496820?
2. If it's too tall can you return the engine and get an earlier non vortec
3. A pain in the wazoo but the vortec heads can be drilled for an early non vortec manifold. There is a fixture for doing this. Some of the holes will enter the water jacket and will need to be pugged but anyone that has done this should know how to do everything. It can be done using the gasket as a guide but you only have one shot to get it right.

I bought a low rise dual quad for my SP 350 and it worked great on my 56 Vette

Thank you for the responses.
The intake on the motor is 12486570. Drilling sounds risky. I'm not sure the mechanic would want that responsibility but it can't hurt to ask.
What is the height of the sp 350 intake? Is it 8 bolt straight down? The only one that came close to the 4" of the original is made by Professional Products and is 4 1/4".

Another option is the EFI unit that looks very similar to the 62 FI unit, and is set up for Vortech heads Arizona Speed and Marine

Thank you for the info. I'm going to look into the FI unit.
