A use the vette filter on LS 1 line conversions, but the sniper has a built in regulator and the return line runs off the throttle body.

I'm holding out until next summer to see if my percolation problems go away...if not I may be onboard for this mod. I'm really hoping to not have to do it though..

Thanks for the treatise on the install for sure...

Thanks Bruce. I’ve used that style filter with the LS engines and it might work with this system if the fuel pressure regulator port on the throttle body is capped off.
I wanted the fuel to return to the tank from the throttle body so it would stay cool. Yesterday’s test showed that even though the engine was 195 degrees, the throttle body stayed at 87 degrees ferenheit.

You are most welcome. I’ll keep posting updates as things progress. I’m dealing with a stripped fitting in the sending unit currently. Not sure how it happened, but it started spewing fuel yesterday. Odd since it was fine initially.

I didn't realize it had its own regulator. Learn something new everyday.

its a very self contained system, even the computer is built into the throttle body which makes it easy to hide the installation on a carburated car. much neater than a F.A.S.T. system, and way better all the way around than FI TECH. so far, to me, they are well thought out and perform excellent, a year down the road I may feel different, but so far very pleased with everyone I have installed.

Throttle linkage.
Go with a 9” rod. I used a 9.5” and it just barely works. I had to remove the lock nuts to get enough movement for the throttle blades to fully open.
I bought the rod from Soeedway Motors. Everything else cNe from summit.

Heim joint/rod end part number:

Went for my first test drive, which wasn’t much fun since the alignment has not been set yet. First impression is that it runs very well. However, the throttle pedal is way too sensitive with the current set up. I’m going to need to do some research on options. I might need to switch to a completely different pedal.

On the throttle linkage on my truck with the Sniper setup I added another plate to extend the pivot point higher up on the throttle body arm to have more of a radius as I found the off idle response was so fast that it was hard to take off from a stop smoothly. Here is a photo of what I am taking about.

THe stock air cleaner fits if rotated so the breather tube clears the throttle body.

For those that semt me messages about fuel line; You will need 30 feet.
-Two 45 degree hose ends at throttle body.
-Two 45 degree hose ends at tank if you face the pump towards the rear.
-Two NPT to -AN fittings(screw into fuel pump sump).
-Two straight hose ends@ filter
-One fuel filter
since there is a filter screen on the end of the fuel pump, I only used one in line filter.

Thanks Dave! Yeah, it’s pretty jerky. I was chirping the tires a lot.

The throttle lever at the firewall was different between the AFB and Holley Carbs.

That could be your geometry problem.

64/65 365 engines with the Holley may be the lever you need.

I added as much as I could to the throttle body and notched the air cleaner base a little to get the max possible. I also brought the pedal end mount up to level the rod as much as possible so it wasn't pulling downward initially. It now has good pedal effort and sensitivity.

Here is the angle of my linkage running Holley HP. Definately needed to install a return spring, which I did install after this pic was taken. Throttle response is insanely responsive, and not jerky.

Thanks for a very informative write up. At some time I would like to look into changing out my original carb on my 86 GMC short bed truck.

I installed a Lokar throttle pedal and cable to resolve the issues I was having with the stock linkage and threaded rod with heim joints.
The lokar pedal works great and now it has a nice smooth response.
LOK-BAG-6165
and LOK-TC-100HT.

I have a Holley system on my '59 and also ran into the sensitive throttle problem. I have a similar Lokar throttle linkage and replaced the straight lever arm on the throttle body with a circular pulley to make the pull more even throughout the full throttle movement.

Update: Reporting back to inform all that the Holley Sniper EFI system is working great and the car is running outstandingly well. I've put some decent mileage on it now and it makes the car far more enjoyable over the carburetor in my climate with the current available 93 octane with ethanol.
Again, I am still really impressed with what Holley has created! It was long overdue!!!

I will be converting my father's 66 427 Corvette coupe to the Holley Terminator Stealth system sometime later this year, so keep an eye out for that thread as well.
